This hybrid, is a primary cross (Laelia splendida x Cattleya tigrina). It is known for its vigorous growth and its ability to produce large, showy, and often fragrant blooms.
- Light: Bright, indirect light is required for blooming. Protect the plant from intense, direct midday sun to avoid leaf burn. Light green foliage is a sign of sufficient light.
- Temperature: Warm to intermediate conditions. Day temperatures 70-85°F (21-29°C), night temperatures 55-65°F (13-18°C). Maintain a 10-15°F (5-8°C) day/night temperature difference for reliable blooming.
- Humidity: 60-80% humidity is preferred. Excellent air circulation is mandatory to prevent bacterial and fungal issues, especially when humidity is high.
- Watering: Water thoroughly only when the potting mix has dried completely. It is vital to let the plant dry between waterings. Reduce watering frequency during the winter rest period.
Additional Notes
The plant itself is very robust and typically displays a large growth habit. It produces strong, club-shaped pseudobulbs with a single leaf. The hybrid is a reliable bloomer, producing an inflorescence with large and showy flowers, from the mature pseudobulbs.
