Peanuts
Peanuts are unique legumes that grow underground, unlike most nuts that grow on trees. They thrive in warm climates with sandy, well-drained soil and plenty of sunlight. After planting peanut seeds—actually the shelled raw peanuts—the plant grows low to the ground and produces small yellow flowers. Once pollinated, the flower stems bend down toward the soil, where the peanuts form and mature beneath the surface.
