This is a prized, rare aroid from the cloud forests of Peru and Ecuador. It is celebrated for its elegant, elongated velvet leaves, which are dark green with prominent, contrasting silvery veins that form a striking pattern.
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sun must be avoided as it will scorch the delicate, velvety leaves.
- Temperature: Thrives in warm, stable temperatures, ideally between 65-80°F (18-27°C). It is sensitive to cold; keep it above 60°F (15°C).
- Humidity: Requires high humidity, with an ideal range of 60-80% or more. A humidifier or closed cabinet is highly recommended to maintain air moisture.
- Watering: Allow the top layer of the potting mix (about an inch) to dry out slightly before watering thoroughly. It prefers consistently moist, but never soggy, conditions.
Additional Notes
This Anthurium grows as a terrestrial or epiphyte and does not vine. Like all Anthuriums, this plant is considered toxic if ingested by humans or pets.
