A Hellboy Betta male is a vibrant Betta splendens characterized by its intense red coloration, often combined with other bold hues like black, white, or iridescent blue, and typically features short, agile Plakat (short-finned) fins, making it an active and striking aquarium fish. These territorial and aggressive males are best kept in a single-male community or with very carefully chosen peaceful tankmates. 
Appearance

  • Coloration:The defining feature is its vivid, often metallic, red coloration. This red can be mixed with secondary colors such as black, white, or iridescent blue and green. 
  • Fin Type:"Hellboy" is a type of Plakat Betta, meaning it has short, full fins. This gives it a more active and agile swimming style compared to traditional long-finned Bettas. 
Temperament & Behavior 

  • Aggressive:Like other male Bettas, Hellboys are highly territorial and aggressive, especially toward other males. 
  • Community Housing:While they can be housed in a community tank, it must be large enough and contain only peaceful, non-aggressive tankmates, such as snails or certain small fish. 
  • Intelligent & Active:They are known for being intelligent and responsive to their owners and their environment. 
Care Requirements

  • Tank Size:A properly sized aquarium with stable, well-maintained freshwater conditions is essential. 
  • Water Parameters:The ideal water conditions include a pH between 6.5 and 7.5 and a temperature of 75-82°F (24-28°C). 
  • Diet:A high-protein diet of Betta-specific pellets is recommended, with occasional live food like brine shrimp or mosquito larvae.
